Sirintip: MYCELIUM
MYCELIUM is Sirintip's captivating interdisciplinary musical suite, born from a five-year artistic and research journey into the wonders of fungi, plankton, and the unseen systems that sustain life. Inspired by mycelium networks — the intricate underground structures that connect ecosystems — the performance invites audiences into a world of interconnectedness, hope, and shared responsibility between humanity and nature.
Created through collaboration, MYCELIUM brings together Sirintip as founder, creative director, composer, arranger, orchestrator, and vocalist; trumpeter, composer, and arranger Danny Jonokuchi; visual artist and designer Nitcha "Fame" Tothong; choreographer and dancer Marie Lloyd Paspe; and co-director and dramaturg Jessica Wu. Merging science and artistry, the full production incorporates data sonification, lyrical storytelling, a nine-musician ensemble, visual projections, and dance to illuminate the overlooked forces that shape our ecosystems and communities.
A Thai-Swedish interdisciplinary artist, singer, composer, and producer based in New York, Sirintip creates immersive performances that blend avant-pop, jazz, electronics, orchestral music, science, and storytelling. A boundary-crossing artist who has toured with Snarky Puppy and brought her work to cultural spaces from SFJAZZ to the Nobel Prize Museum, Sirintip creates performances for audiences drawn to curiosity, connection, and new ways of learning.
Presented as part of a weeklong residency at UC Merced during Earth Week, MYCELIUM opens a space for wonder, reflection, and deeper attention to the living world around us.
